Closed beta · a letter from the founder

I invite a few households at a time.

Short answer

Smaklig is not in the App Store or on Google Play. The beta is closed, free and has no subscription. You leave your email here — we'll be in touch when there's a spot that fits your phone.

Hi — Alexander here. I built Smaklig because I was tired of standing in the shop at half past five with no idea what we were going to eat. Now the sous-chef builds the week from what's on offer in my store, and I want it to do that for you too.

But the app isn't released. It sits in a closed round of testing, and I let a few households in at a time — because I want time to read what every person says. There's nowhere to download it: not the App Store, not Google Play.

So here's what I can offer: leave your address in the form. When there's a spot that fits your phone, I'll email you. Then you build your first weekly menu from this week's deals — and tell me what was bad. It comes straight to me, not to a support queue.

The beta is free and has no subscription.

The first thing you do once you're in

Not an empty app waiting for you to fill it. Three things are there straight away.

  • Seven dinners from this week's deals

Pick your store. The sous-chef reads this week's deals there and composes the week from them — around your goals, tastes and allergies.

  • A list grouped by department

The shopping list is grouped by department — meat, dairy, fruit and veg — and the deal prices are marked, so you can see what's actually reduced while you're at the shelf.

  • A direct line to me

There are few of us in the beta, and that's deliberate. If you say something is broken I read it myself — and it's usually fixed before the next round.

After you've sent it

No dates on this list. That's the point — I don't promise anything I can't keep.

  1. The receipt appears on the page — right away, while you're still there. If the email didn't get through the page says so plainly, never a false thank-you.
  2. I read your sign-up and see which phone you use. If you filled in what you want to test, that decides what you see first.
  3. An email from hello@smaklig.app with an invite to TestFlight or to closed testing on Google Play. You don't need to keep checking — I'll email you.
  4. You cook your first weekly menu, and speak up if something's wrong.

Three questions I always get

Why can't I just download it?
The beta is closed. iPhone goes through TestFlight, Android through closed testing on Google Play — both require me to invite you personally. There's no public download to point to.
When do I get access?
I can't say, and I don't want to guess. Spots go out in small rounds. You don't need to sign up again or follow up — I'll email you.
Does it cost anything?
No. The beta is free, has no subscription, and you don't need to leave a card.

The next round is the one you can be in

One address, one phone. The rest is optional — and free.
