Family

What should we eat tonight?

The most common dinner question in Swedish homes. Your sous-chef answers in ten seconds: you get a concrete suggestion based on what you have at home, what the family likes and what your store has marked down this week — plus a ready-made shopping list. No scrolling through recipes, no standing puzzled at the shelf — simple recipes with few steps, a quick dinner on the table.

Up to ~4 h/week less time spent planning and shopping (our own estimate).

Recipes

How do I find recipes that suit me?

You describe what you like — your sous-chef creates recipes for you, matched to your preferences, allergies and goal, so you skip a search engine full of results that still don't fit. Every recipe is scaled to your household's portions and shows calories and time before you decide. Simple recipes with real ratings — and never the same dinner twice, not boring AI recipes.

Smart shopping

Is your own meal kit cheaper than shopping yourself?

Often, yes. A traditional meal kit has a fixed price and a fixed menu. Your sous-chef instead builds your menu around this week's deals in your specific store — ICA, Coop, Willys and more — and lets you buy the groceries at store price, without a subscription. You see the savings before you shop and can swap out what you don't want — simple recipes, cheap food, the tastiest everyday meals.

Example: dinners around 100 SEK (serves 4)
Sausage stew with root vegetables89 SEK
Pasta with chickpeas & spinach74 SEK
Chicken thighs with rice & broccoli96 SEK
Lentil soup with bread62 SEK

Up to ~150–250 SEK/week when you plan around the week's deals (Example).

Health

What should you eat to lose weight?

Short answer: food you can actually stick with, in reasonable amounts, every week. Your sous-chef keeps your intake at a calm deficit without you counting every bite — more greens, sensible portions and dishes you enjoy. No bans, no shame. You set the goal, we adjust the menu quietly in the background — the tastiest everyday meals in sensible portions, no boring "diet recipes".

Training

How much protein per day to build muscle?

A common recommendation if you strength train is roughly 1.6–2.2 grams of protein per kilo of body weight per day. Your sous-chef calculates your energy needs (TDEE), sets a protein target and plans meals around your workouts — so the protein lands where it does the most good. You see calories and protein per dish, without keeping a diary — simple recipes and a quick dinner around your sessions.

1.6–2.2 g/kg protein per day for muscle growth (Morton et al., BJSM 2018).

What no other app does

Your sous-chef sits at the intersection of three things that otherwise live in separate apps — price, food and health.

Building the menu around the week's deals shows in my wallet, and I love being able to create recipes based on what I'm in the mood for. Everyday cooking has become both cheaper and more fun.

Why AI?

Because a good dinner is a small optimization problem.

Price, preferences, allergies, what's in the fridge, what you ate yesterday, what your body needs. A person can weigh three of them on a stressful weekday. A sous-chef weighs them all — every day, in seconds.

Founder

Built in a Swedish kitchen — since 2026

It started with my own weight journey — then my family asked for the same weekly menus. Since 2026 we've been building the sous-chef here in Sweden — with Swedish stores, Swedish prices and real everyday food at the center. We use it ourselves, every week.

"I went from 110 to 98 kg by planning dinners around store campaigns. Smaklig automates what used to take me hours every week."

Why I built Smaklig

Frequently asked questions

How do you plan the week's dinners?

Easiest with a plan built around your week. The sous-chef suggests dinners for the days you choose, takes allergies and preferences into account, and builds a single shopping list. You can swap out any dish — the rest adjusts automatically.

Is a meal kit cheaper than shopping yourself?

A traditional meal kit has a fixed price. With Smaklig you instead build the menu around the week's deals and shop yourself at store prices, without a subscription. Many save 150–250 SEK a week compared to unplanned shopping.

What can you cook for 100 SEK?

More than you'd think. Sausage stew, pasta with chickpeas, lentil soup or chicken thighs with rice often land under a hundred kronor for four portions — especially when you follow the week's deals. The sous-chef shows the price before you decide.

Is Smaklig really free?

Yes, during beta all features are completely free — AI recipes, weekly menus, shopping lists, deal optimization and nutrition tracking. No hidden costs.

Can I customize for allergies and dietary preferences?

Absolutely. During onboarding you specify 14 common allergens, dietary preferences (vegan, LCHF, gluten-free, etc.) and nutrition goals. The AI never generates recipes with ingredients you can't eat — the allergy check is safety-critical and happens server-side.

Where is my data stored?

The primary database is hosted by Neon in Frankfurt. Google Gemini and Vercel may also process data outside the EU/EEA under contractual transfer safeguards. You can export or delete your data via /settings.

Is Smaklig medical advice?

No. Smaklig is a planning tool — not medical advice. Always consult a doctor or dietitian for medical conditions, pregnancy, diabetes or a history of eating disorders.
