Delete your Smaklig account

This page explains how to request account deletion, what is removed, and what may remain afterwards.

How to delete your account

Smaklig first completes the necessary checks and attempts with connected account services. The deletion from the database then happens immediately as one operation. If it fails, all database changes are reversed.

On the web

Sign in and go to Settings → Account & data → Delete my account. Confirm the deletion as instructed on the screen.

In the iPhone and Android app

Open My account → Data & account → Delete my account and select Delete forever.

By email

If you cannot sign in, email lillalle@hotmail.com from the address associated with your account. State that you want to delete your Smaklig account. We need to verify that the account is yours before processing the request.

Subscription and Apple sign-in

If a Stripe subscription is stored, Smaklig attempts to cancel it before deleting the data from the database. A Stripe error does not stop the database deletion. Smaklig does not set its own time limit for how long the call to Stripe may take.

Smaklig also attempts to revoke any Apple access before deleting the data from the database. If the revocation cannot be confirmed, the Smaklig account is still deleted. You may then need to remove Smaklig under Apple Account → Sign-In & Security → Sign in with Apple.

What is removed when you delete your account

When the database deletion succeeds, the following data is removed at the same time:

  • Account and sign-in Your account, connected sign-in accounts, and active sessions.
  • Profile and settings Your profile, taste preferences, equipment, selected stores, injuries, and account consents.
  • Health and training data Allergies, weight log, daily health summaries, food diary, personal records, and training data.
  • Planning Weekly menus, shopping lists, favourites, recipe interactions, and other planning data that you own or that is linked to your account. If you are the sole owner, the household and its shared data are also deleted.
  • Chat and AI reports Chat threads, messages, and AI content reports that are directly linked to your account.

What may remain

Some shared records, system logs, audit records, or files may remain after account deletion. This is due to how links and deletion routines work today or to a technical defect in file cleanup. It does not mean that everything remaining has an approved reason to be retained. For some records, we cannot currently state when they will be deleted.

  • Recipes you created When you delete your account, the recipes remain, but the link to your account is removed. If you delete a recipe separately, it is marked as deleted and its links to favourites are removed. We currently have no automatic routine that permanently deletes the recipe record. We therefore cannot state when it will be deleted.
  • Recipe images Images belonging to a recipe may remain with the recipe after the account or recipe has been deleted. The system may also store a generated original image separately from the image that is shown. We currently have no automatic time limit that ensures these files are deleted.
  • Error logs after account deletion Structured error logs may remain until the 90-day cleanup runs. The link to your account is removed when the account is deleted. However, the deletion flow does not search for identifying information that may appear in the log message, error trace, or other log information.
  • Deletion-request log An audit record of the deletion request is retained, but the link to your account is removed. The record is given a date 30 days in the future. We currently have no automatic routine that permanently deletes it. We therefore cannot state when it will be deleted.
  • System logs with a coded identifier Some system logs replace the direct link to the account with a code that remains the same over time. The code is not anonymous. One type of log is deleted after 30 days. Another may also contain household and target IDs. It has no automatic time limit for deletion.
  • Separately stored files Raw AI results, files for rejected weekly-menu recipes, and feedback screenshots may remain among files we store separately from the database. When their database record is deleted, account deletion does not delete the file itself. We therefore cannot state when such files will be deleted.

If you belong to a household

If you are a member but not the owner, you leave the household and it remains for the others. This does not mean that all shared planning data is retained. Weekly menus, shopping lists, and favourites linked to your account may be deleted at the same time.

If you own a household with other active members, you must transfer ownership first. Deletion is blocked until this is done.

If you are the sole owner, the household and its shared data are deleted together with the account.

Delete some data without deleting your account

You can separately delete or withdraw some data:

Withdraw food-diary consent

On the web, go to Settings → Food log and select Disable + delete data.

In the app, open My account → Data & account → Food log and select Turn off and delete food log.

Food-log consent is withdrawn. The saved food-log entries and summaries are deleted at the same time.

Delete an individual food-diary entry

In the iPhone and Android app, open today's food diary from the food-diary block on the Sous-chef tab by selecting View today’s food diary, then select Remove for the entry.

The entry is marked as deleted and the day's summary is recalculated. We currently have no automatic routine that later deletes the entry permanently. We therefore cannot state when it will be deleted.

Delete a recipe you created

On the web, go to Recipes, find a recipe you created, and select Delete.

Deletion is blocked if the recipe is used in an active weekly menu. Remove the recipe from the menu first. The recipe is then marked as deleted and all links to favourites are removed. We currently have no automatic routine that later deletes the recipe record permanently.

How long data is retained

Different types of data have different deletion periods and routines. The periods below describe the automatic routines in place today. They are not a promise that every copy or separately stored file is deleted at the same time.

  • Activity history Automatically deleted after 90 days.
  • Error logs in the database The rows in the database are automatically deleted after 90 days. Any logs held by services used to operate the system are not covered by this deletion.
  • Raw information sent to AI If you have consented to analytics, new raw data may be stored. Its content is cleared after 90 days. Without analytics consent, no new raw data is stored. The 30-day cleanup applies to older records that already contain raw data but lack consent.
  • One type of system log A log that uses a coded identifier is automatically deleted after 30 days.
  • Cookie choices Your choices for analytics and marketing are retained for 365 days.
  • Snap images The system attempts to delete the files after 30 days. If a file cannot be deleted, its address is still removed from the database. The file may then remain without another automatic attempt, and we cannot state when it will be deleted.
  • Account-deletion log The record is marked with a date 30 days in the future, but the system does not delete it automatically. We therefore cannot state when it will be deleted.
  • Deleted recipes and food-log entries Recipes you created and individual food-log entries are marked as deleted. We currently have no automatic routine that later deletes the records permanently. We therefore cannot state when they will be deleted.
  • AI-action log The log may retain a coded identifier that remains the same over time, as well as household and target IDs. We currently have no automatic time limit that ensures the log is deleted.
  • Separately stored AI and feedback files Account deletion does not delete raw AI results, files for rejected weekly-menu recipes, or feedback screenshots that are stored separately from the database. If the database link disappears before the usual cleanup, we cannot state when the files will be deleted.
  • Generated recipe images Images, including stored originals, may remain with the recipe or without an active database link after a file-cleanup error. We currently have no automatic time limit that ensures the images are deleted.

Export your data before deletion

On the web, you can download the data export that Smaklig provides before deleting your account.

On the web, go to Settings → Account & data → Download my data.

In the app, open My account → Data & account → Account actions and select Export my data.

The export retrieves data from a fixed list of parts of the system. It is therefore not a complete copy of everything that may be linked to you. Chat history is not included. Other account, household, audit, or system records may also be absent.
