Food log · Barcode with the camera

Scan the barcode.
Get the nutrition.

Scan the barcode and Smaklig matches the exact product, then pulls its nutrition from Coop's catalogue. Choose a serving and meal, and log your food in seconds.

The product name and nutrition values per 100 grams are fetched with source and date. The lookup matches the EAN code exactly and uses no AI recognition. You choose a serving and meal and tap Log — only then is anything saved.

  • Nutrition values from Coop's catalogue
  • Nothing is logged until you tap Log
  • Not found? Try name search or a photo

Illustrated example. Product, serving and nutrition values vary.

How it works

How do I log food with a barcode?

Scan, check and log. The camera reads the product's EAN code. The nutrition is fetched from Coop's catalogue and recalculated for the serving you enter.

  1. 1

Point the camera at the barcode

Hold the EAN code inside the frame. It's read automatically — you don't need to tap anything. The camera is used only on this screen.

  2. 2

The product and nutrition are fetched

The product's EAN code is matched exactly in Coop's catalogue. You see nutrition per 100 grams, the source and the fetch date. If there's no match, you're told.

  3. 3

Choose a serving and meal — log

You enter the serving in grams, ten grams at a time or exactly. Choose breakfast, lunch, dinner or snack and tap Log. Only then is anything saved.

Under the hood

Where does the nutrition behind the barcode come from?

From Coop's catalogue, via an exact EAN lookup. Smaklig fetches the matched item's nutrition values. A photo with Smakblick estimates the food with AI and is a separate flow.

Exact product identity

The barcode identifies the package. The nutrition values are fetched from Coop's catalogue. If you search by name instead, you choose a generic food from the Swedish Food Agency — that's a different path.

Check the package

Always read the package's ingredient list, especially if you have an allergy: recipes can change before the catalogue is updated, and an exact EAN match doesn't guarantee that the ingredient information is current.

Which products are recognised?

Packaged foods whose EAN code is in Coop's catalogue. The lookup matches exact product identity. A readable barcode doesn't mean every product is in the catalogue.

Fruit, vegetables and items sold loose often have no barcode. Try name search via the Swedish Food Agency or photograph the food with Smakblick.

What happens if the barcode isn't found?

You're told right away — nothing is logged automatically. The app shows that the product wasn't found. You can search by the product's name and choose a match from the Swedish Food Agency yourself, or take a photo with Smakblick.

Name search and photo are separate options. They don't replace a missing EAN match with a made-up product.

Are the nutrition values AI-estimated?

No. Barcode scanning uses a deterministic EAN lookup in Coop's catalogue. The nutrition comes from the matched item's catalogue data. Smakblick's photo estimate is a different flow.

You see the source and fetch date. Always check the package, especially the ingredient list if you have an allergy.

Can I change the serving?

Yes — in grams, before anything is logged. Adjust ten grams at a time or enter an exact weight, from 1 to 5,000 grams. The nutrition is recalculated from per 100 grams. Choose breakfast, lunch, dinner or snack.

Products with nutrition per 100 ml are shown for reference and can't yet be logged in grams. The app doesn't guess a conversion.

Your morning

How does breakfast fit into the whole day?

What you log gathers in today's food log. Scan the package, choose your serving and save the meal. You get an overview of the day's nutrition in the same app.
