Ingredients
2 servings
- 500 gbeef fillet
- 3 mskKikkoman Japanese soy sauce
- 1 msksesame oil
- 1 stgarlic clove
- 0.5 stbrown onion
- 2 stred pointed pepper 🏷️
- 130 gtender baby spinach 🏷️
- 2 stspring onions
- 1 tsksesame seeds
- 1 krmflaky sea salt
How to make it
- 1
Mix the soy sauce, sesame oil, just one crushed garlic clove and finely grated brown onion in a bowl to make a mild, child-friendly marinade. If you like, add black pepper to your own plate afterwards.
- 2
Cut the beef fillet into thick slices or medallions. Brush the meat with half the marinade and leave to rest for 10 minutes.
- 3
Light the barbecue and prepare it for high direct heat.
- 4
Cut the red pointed peppers into large halves and remove the seeds.
- 5
Grill the beef fillet for about 2–3 minutes per side for medium-rare. Brush on the remaining marinade towards the end.
- 6
At the same time, grill the pepper halves until nicely charred and slightly softened (about 3–4 minutes). Then cut the pepper into pieces.
- 7
Arrange the grilled beef fillet on a large serving platter. Serve the baby spinach, grilled pepper, sliced spring onion and sesame seeds in separate bowls on the side so everyone can pick their own favourites.
Kitchen tips
- Let the meat come to room temperature before putting it on the grill for more even cooking.
- Brush the marinade on at the end of grilling so the sugars don't burn too much.
- Serving all the vegetables and toppings in separate bowls makes it easy for both children and adults to build their own plate.
